What Are Skin Tags?
Skin tags are small pieces of skin that appear on the surface of the body. Also known by the name acrochordon, skin tag is a benign skin condition and can appear anywhere on your body. However, it is observed that they occur more where the skin folds, basically the part of the body where the skin rubs up against skin, such as armpits, groin, under the breast, eyelids and neck.
While there are several factors that increase the likelihood of having skin tags, genetics is also considered as an important factor. Generally, skin tags are caused due to obesity and people who suffer from diabetes. Also skin tags are more common among pregnant women due to hormonal changes.
Apple Cider Vinegar For Skin Tags
A popular home remedy for skin tags is Apple Cider Vinegar which can work miracles on the unsightly skin lesions like skin tags, moles and warts. This method is quite simple and popular, because it removes the tag safely without causing much pain as compared to other methods. How it works is that, the acid in the vinegar destroys the tissue that forms the blemish, without causing any damage to the adjacent skin.
How To Apply Apple Cider Vinegar?
You will require band-aids, Apple Cider Vinegar and some cotton wool/cotton balls to remove skin tags.
1. Dip the cotton ball in some Apple Cider Vinegar until it is soaked through.
2. Give it a little squeeze then place it over the skin tag.
3. Use a band-aid to hold it in place.
4. Repeat this daily or twice a day.
When you initially apply the Apple Cider Vinegar to the skin tag, you will notice some discoloration taking place in the tag. That is normal and also the mild stinging sensation the first time is normal. When you repeat its usage for a few more days, the skin tag eventually falls off without any pain.
Most of the people who have used the same method to get rid of the skin tags have claimed its efficacy and have commented that it worked wonders without leaving any scars. However, the only downside to this method is that it takes a little more time and consistency. You can consult a doctor if there is any inflammation or continuous irritation observed, when you apply the Apple Cider Vinegar for the first time as you may be allergic to it.
