Home Remedies for Smooth and Shiny Hair

Having a silky, smooth and healthy hair has always been desired, especially by women. Whether the hair is curly, straight or long doesn’t matter, but shiny hair always does.
Healthy hair is known to possess natural oil in its outer layers which keeps the hair’s moisture and softness at optimal levels. If this balance is disturbed in some way, your hair looks dull, dry and unhealthy.

For the purpose of achieving the glamorous looks we see on the TV commercials we mostly use various conditioners, shampoos and serums which over time decrease their beneficial effect, even harm your hair. The solution is in using easy-to-find natural ingredients which you generally utilize at home for other things.

1. Eggs
Eggs have been known to be the best ingredient for nourishing your hair and bring that shine you’ve always wanted. And they do that in just minutes after applying. Eggs are wealthy with fatty acid, lecithin and proteins which helps repair damaged hair by bestowing shine and moisture, as well as thickening and strengthening your hair strands.
– Blend one egg white and one tablespoon each of honey and olive oil until the mixture becomes a thick paste. Put the paste on your hair and scalp and cover it with a towel or a shower cap for 30 minutes. Afterwards, wash your hair with shampoo and cold water (never rinse your hair with hot water since it clots the egg so it would prove difficult to remove it).
– Beat two eggs until they become a foamy mass, and then put one-half cup of yoghurt and two tablespoons of almond oil into it. Put the mixture on your hair and scalp and cover it with a towel or a shower cap for 30 minutes. Afterwards, wash your hair with shampoo and cold water.

2. Apple cider Vinegar
This is known to be one of the best hair conditioners that can make your hair moisturized, shiny and soft. It’s also effective against dandruff, itchiness and curling of hair, as well as removing accumulated residue which affects the hair’s natural shine.
– Mix identical amounts of apple cider vinegar and water together. After you’ve applied shampoo on your hair add the mixture and massage thoroughly. Let it stay for a few minutes before rinsing it completely with cold water.
– You can also use this recipe: mix two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice in one cup of water. Apply this mixture as a final rinse after shampooing.

3. Coconut Oil
To have shiny hair it’s crucial to nurture your hair by frequently applying oil to it. One of the best choices for this is the coconut oil, but it has to be unrefined and organic. Coconut oil restores moisture to dry and damaged hair, making it healthy and shiny again.
– Spread warm coconut oil from the root to the ends of your hair and massage for several minutes. Then wrap your hair in a towel or shower cap for 30 minutes and afterwards rinse with cool water, followed by the usual shampooing and conditioning.
– The other option would be to mix a few curry leaves with two tablespoons of coconut oil then heat it until it’s warm. When it cools down, apply the oil onto the scalp and hair and subsequently cover it with a warm towel for 30 minutes. After the time passes just wash it off with a mild shampoo.
Stick to either of these recipes once or twice a week, according to your hair condition. The same procedure could also be performed by using castor, almond or olive oil instead.
