Onion Juice for Hair Growth

Onion keeps the scalp dandruff-free and hair roots unclogged. A major cause for male pattern baldness is Genetic sensitivity to DHT. Onions provide nourishment to hair follicles that have been blocked by DHT sensitivity or due to lack of nutrients. About 74% of people in a study with alopecia areata experienced hair re-growth after using onion juice.

Yes, it’s true the humble everyday vegetable, onion really helps boost hair health. Onion juice has been used in ancient medicine as a natural remedy of thinning, falling and graying of hair.

Latest research into this wonder veggie has thrown multiple possibilities into its importance in hair care. Most of it has to do with its anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti parasitic properties that keep the scalp clean of dandruff and hair roots unclogged. Genetic sensitivity to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a major cause for genetic male pattern baldness. Onions has proved to provide the hair follicles with nourishment that has been blocked by DHT sensitivity or due to lack of nutrients from an unhealthy diet.

Sulphur ( also called the “beauty mineral”) which is present in every cell of the human body especially the skin, nails and hair, is another important nutrient in onions that decreases inflammation, reinvigorates and regenerates hair follicles growth.

Greying and thinning of hair is also caused by oxidative stress through a buildup of hydrogen peroxide and a decrease in the natural antioxidant, catalase. Onion juice, when applied to the scalp increases catalase levels on the skins surface, reducing the buildup of hydrogen peroxide and boosting hair health.

Few research results found that just after four weeks of using onion juice, 74% of individuals with alopecia areata (extreme medical case where the immune system forces hair fall) experienced significant hair regrowth. Within six weeks of using onion juice, 84% of the individuals were reported to have hair regrowth.

This simple household remedy is a boon especially for those undergoing hair loss as a result of hormonal changes or the aging process. While further studies are necessary to reach a full conclusion, this is a great start for the fight against hair loss.

Stop Hair Fall with This Homemade Fenugreek and Olive Oil Pack

Long and shining hair can leave anyone envious. Having lustrous locks is an ornament in itself. You need to take care to keep them, just like you take care of your skin. Women, especially, are more worried about the health of their hair and wish to possess hair that turn heads.

In your 30s, the hair growth does slow down but even then the hair can remain healthy. In any case, you should not ignore the early signs of thinning for they can point to some other disease.

There are many oils, creams, lotions, packs, etc. that are advertised widely as a solution to hair loss. The truth is that there is no guarantee that these expensive products will help.

It is, therefore, best to try home remedies that promise the same results. The added advantage is that they are natural and eliminate chances of side effects. Using ingredients readily available in your kitchen is pocket-friendly too!

Before we look at the hair pack, let us understand the reasons that lead to hair fall.
Apart from some hair fall that is part of the natural process, anything in excess is a cause for concern. It is not something that you will see one fine day but over a period of time. You may notice that the pony tail has become much thinner and the comb is full of broken hair than earlier.

Causes Of Hair Fall

The most common causes for this are:

Stress
The lifestyle that you lead might be too stressful for your health in general and may reflect through your hair. This includes reduced intake of nutrients in diet, lack of water in body and less sleep and rest. A change in lifestyle and conscious inclusion of high nutrients in diet can easily take care of this.

Pollution
The pollution levels these days are high and exposure to high levels of pollution has adverse affect on hair growth. Wear a scarf whenever you go out.

Use Of Chemicals
Hair color, treatments like straightening and perms, using shampoos, etc. expose the hair to many kinds of chemicals and eventually the hair becomes weak and starts to fall off. Try to restrict usage of these treatments and/or products and be careful whenever such treatments are done.
Apart from this, hormonal imbalance, deficiency of certain vitamins and iron, and some diseases like PCOS can also lead to excessive hair fall. Detailed medical examination and medicines can treat these problems.

The DIY Pack

Who would think of fenugreek seeds as a remedy for hair loss? But you will be surprised at how effective this pack is. A step by step process is given below:
1. Grind 2 tbsp of fenugreek seeds till they become a fine powder. Before grinding make sure that there is no moisture in the seeds else they will not reduce to the powder form.
2. In a bowl take 1 tbsp of olive oil and add the fenugreek powder to it. Mix well to form a paste.
3. Apply this paste on the scalp and the hair.
4. Let it dry for 10 minutes and wash off with warm water. You could use a mild shampoo.
5. Regular use will show results by restoring the shine.

How The Pack Helps?

As discussed earlier, it is best to use natural products as they are gentle on the hair and help restore hair health. Fenugreek seeds are readily available in the kitchen.

A pack made with a combination of fenugreek seeds and olive oil works well to restore hair shine. The seeds have lecithin which is effective in strengthening the hair from the roots. It is also known for treating follicular problems.

Fenugreek is also loaded with proteins and nicotinic acid which stimulates hair growth. It is very good for building hair follicles. Olive oil is also good for hair. It has antioxidants in it which reverse the damage from pollution and excess exposure to chemicals.

In addition to this, it is also a natural conditioner. A combination of both is best as it helps restore the shine and softness to the hair. A pack made with this helps rebuild hair follicles and strengthens the roots and thereby, helps reduce hair loss.

There are soaps and shampoos that strip the skin of their natural oils, which leaves them dry and bad looking. But, if you regularly rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar, you can enjoy a long list of benefits that no commercial product can offer.

The Benefits from Washing Your Hair with Apple Cider Vinegar

No matter how much advertisements say that hair-care products are good for your hair, many of them have a negative effect leaving your hair and scalp dry. With the help of apple cider vinegar and its acidity, the pH balance of your hair and scalp will be well maintained and at the same time your natural oils will not be removed.

The clogging of the hair follicles occurs due to bacterial infections and in such cases you get crusty flakes resulting in hair loss. Not only that, apple cider vinegar stimulates the circulation to the follicles making your hair roots stronger.

How to Use
To enjoy the aforementioned benefits, it is important to use raw, organic, unfiltered and unpasteurized apple cider vinegar. Most stores have refined vinegar, but you should look for bottles where you can clearly see cloudy stuff at the bottom of the bottle. This means that the vinegar has all the beneficial bacteria, enzymes, trace minerals and pectin. Also, always shake the bottle before use in order to distribute all the elements evenly. If you can’t find unrefined vinegar, just make your own.
You need:

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar

How to Prepare It
Just mix the ingredients in a spray bottle. Use the same ratio if you want a large quantity, for example, 2 cups of water with 4 tablespoons etc. If you have oily hair, feel free to use higher vinegar concentrations. Experiment with the ratio until you experience the best results.

After shampooing your hair, apply the vinegar and massage your scalp. Remember to leave it for a couple of minutes in order for your scalp to soak in it. After that just rinse your hair and just throw away your conditioner. Even the vinegar smell will disappear after your hair has been dried.

For the purpose of achieving the glamorous looks we see on the TV commercials we mostly use various conditioners, shampoos and serums which over time decrease their beneficial effect, even harm your hair. The solution is in using easy-to-find natural ingredients which you generally utilize at home for other things.

Eggs have been known to be the best ingredient for nourishing your hair and bring that shine you’ve always wanted. And they do that in just minutes after applying. Eggs are wealthy with fatty acid, lecithin and proteins which helps repair damaged hair by bestowing shine and moisture, as well as thickening and strengthening your hair strands.

Put the paste on your hair and scalp and cover it with a towel or a shower cap for 30 minutes. Afterwards, wash your hair with shampoo and cold water (never rinse your hair with hot water since it clots the egg so it would prove difficult to remove it).
– Beat two eggs until they become a foamy mass, and then put one-half cup of yoghurt and two tablespoons of almond oil into it. Put the mixture on your hair and scalp and cover it with a towel or a shower cap for 30 minutes. Afterwards, wash your hair with shampoo and cold water.

– You can also use this recipe: mix two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and lemon juice in one cup of water. Apply this mixture as a final rinse after shampooing.

3. Coconut Oil
To have shiny hair it’s crucial to nurture your hair by frequently applying oil to it. One of the best choices for this is the coconut oil, but it has to be unrefined and organic. Coconut oil restores moisture to dry and damaged hair, making it healthy and shiny again.
– Spread warm coconut oil from the root to the ends of your hair and massage for several minutes. Then wrap your hair in a towel or shower cap for 30 minutes and afterwards rinse with cool water, followed by the usual shampooing and conditioning.
– The other option would be to mix a few curry leaves with two tablespoons of coconut oil then heat it until it’s warm. When it cools down, apply the oil onto the scalp and hair and subsequently cover it with a warm towel for 30 minutes. After the time passes just wash it off with a mild shampoo.
Stick to either of these recipes once or twice a week, according to your hair condition. The same procedure could also be performed by using castor, almond or olive oil instead.
